LETTERFORM ARCHIVE | Branding with Type: A One-Day Workshop

Hosted/Organized by: Letterform Archive

Use your senses as inspiration by developing a visual system for your own highly personal line of ice cream. Create a menu of visual elements and apply them to a unique product family. Use typography, color, and graphic elements to express sensory delight and explore personal culinary themes (heritage, nostalgia, health, futurism, feminism, and more). Use this one-day workshop to spark your creativity, find new inspiration, and create a chill portfolio piece. Participants receive copies of Ellen Lupton’s latest books from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Design Is Storytelling and The Senses: Design Beyond Vision. During the workshop, you will be able to study corporate identity manuals from the Letterform Archive collection.

Type West at Letterform Archive

Education is central to the Archive’s mission. At the core is Type West, a postgraduate certificate program in type design, and the only one of its kind on the West Coast. We also host class visits, present lectures, and offer public workshops.

The Type West Postgraduate Certificate Program in Type Design is geared towards graphic design professionals who wish to expand their typographic skills by learning the tools and techniques required to create original typefaces. The year-long course is tailored to the needs of recent graduates, working designers, and other professionals who interact with type and typography regularly but want to deepen their knowledge in a supportive and challenging academic environment.
