Christine Wong Yap is a project-based artist who often uses printmaking, drawing, and social practice to explore psychological wellbeing. She has participated in over a dozen residencies and studio programs. A longtime resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, she has lived and worked in Queens, NY since 2010. Christine’s work 100 Stories of Belonging in the Bay Area is featured in SFCB’s summer exhibition Poetry Is Not A Luxury, in addition to three silkscreened bandannas inspired by local Belonging project participants.

The installation Hopes For Chinatown at Dragon Seed Bridal (735 Clay Street) is a temporary public artwork featuring community members’ hopes and dreams for S.F. Chinatown in English and Chinese. The responses were gathered in “Art, Culture, and Belonging”, a project in partnership with the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco and the Chinatown Arts and Culture Coalition. It is part of Art for Essential Workers(link is external), in which 100 Days Action is installing art on boarded up storefronts by local and national artists with images of optimism and solidarity with our essential workers.
