SUMMARY:BAWiP | What Is It Like To Be A Nonprofit Board Member?
DESCRIPTION:In a world of uncertainty\, divisiveness\, and conflict\, Love-Based Leadership is more relevant now than ever. \nRather than focusing on intimidation\, power\, or fear\, leading with love leverages the most powerful force on the planet to increase employee motivation\, innovation\, and trust. This is not a presentation of kumbaya\, puppies\, kittens\, and rainbows\, but instead looks at how to increase your power and influence as a love-based leader\, all while finding meaning in the work. \nDr. Church will take you through the three pillars of Love-Based Leadership – Love of Self\, Love of Source\, and Love of Other. It is becoming the new blueprint for success in business and life\, nurturing the soul and giving individuals a badly-needed renewed sense of purpose. \nhttps://www.bayareawomeninpublishing.com/nonprofitboard

SUMMARY:Letterform Archive | Untangling Japanese Type with Toshi Omagari
DESCRIPTION:Hosted/Organized by: Letterform Archive \nCo-presented by Book Arts & Special Collections\, San Francisco Public Library\nOnline Lecture at Letterform Archive\nTue\, Mar 29\, 2022\n12:00pm–1:30pm PT\n\nJapan is home to one of the most curious writing systems\, one that is in fact made of three writing systems ;  four\, if you count Latin. Its complexity has been preserved and supported relatively well in the modern era\, leading to a type community large enough to call an industry. Despite fair technical support of the language on digital platforms\, practical knowledge of Japanese typography and especially typeface design is not widely known outside of Japan. \nIn this talk\, Toshi Omagari will explore the world of Japanese type\, encourage others to try Japanese lettering\, and discuss how to better execute and evaluate Japanese typography. \nThis and all Letterform Lectures are a public aspect of the Type West postgraduate certificate program. Register to attend remotely. \nhttps://letterformarchive.org/events/view/untangling-japanese-type

SUMMARY:BABF | Bay Area Book Festival
DESCRIPTION:Hosted/Organized by: Bay Area Book Festival \nWe’re in the middle of planning one of our most exciting fests yet! We can’t wait to see you in person in our beloved Berkeley venues and park (with all health protocols\, needless to say) — or through the virtual formats we’ll also use. Our authors will come from all over the world: from Berkeley to the rest of the U.S.\, the Middle East\, Africa\, South America\, and Europe. Who says you can’t touch the world right now? \nWhen? Soon! The 2022 festival will be held May 7-8. (For you true book nuts: We plan to reveal the full schedule and ticketing on Friday\, April 8.) \nWho? Here is a sneak peek of the program of the 2022 festival! \nWhere? Indoor author programs will fill multiple Downtown Berkeley venues. The Outdoor Fair\, with at least one large adult program stage\, a robust children’s area\, and a couple hundred exhibitors and food vendors\, will take over Martin Luther King\, Jr. Civic Center Park. \nCan I exhibit in the Outdoor Fair? If you’re a literary organization or a writer\, yes! See details here. \nCan I take part as an author? Unfortunately submissions for on-stage programs have closed for 2022\, but many authors enjoy exhibiting in the Outdoor Fair in our Authors Pavilion. It’s not expensive\, is great exposure\, and is fun! Check it out! \nCan I sponsor the event? Yes\, we’d love to have you\, and we offer tons of unique opportunities to connect with our engaged audience. We’ll customize a package to fulfill your specific goals\, so reach out now to start a conversation.
