This is a remote position and can be based anywhere within the United States.

How can you make an impact?

The Acquisitions Editor will manage a portfolio of digital and print test prep and allied health products for the health care education market. In this role, you will be responsible for strategically growing the product line, both by enhancing existing products and signing/developing new products. Key digital product responsibilities include JAMA Evidence and OMMBID. You should have also have a passion and for creating products that delight customers, a desire to fully understand customer workflows and the ability to translate that insight into product features.

What you will be doing:

– Manage digital products including JAMA Evidence and OMMDIB, acquiring new content and customer insight. Deliver annual operating plans to ensure that revenue projections, usage volume and profit margin objectives are met.

– Acquire 5-7 new and revised books per year in nursing, medicine, test prep and allied health, negotiating author contracts, including advances, royalty rates, licensing, etc. while minimizing financial exposure/risk.

– Manage editorial partnerships with the AMA and the AACN.

– Conduct focus groups on campus with both faculty and students/residents to determine new features/content for both digital and print growth.

– Work closely with authors to develop, refine, and finalize manuscripts ensuring that projects adhere to internal (division) and external (customer/market) standards and requirements.

– Identify portfolio gaps and actively pursue new products to fill those gaps.

– Prepare strategic product proposals for editorial and sales management, articulating the business rationale in a compelling and data-centric manner.

We’re looking for someone with:

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· 5+ years related experience in a medical/professional Editorial, Marketing and/or Publishing Experience.

· Ability to plan, organize, analyze and establish priorities to achieve results.

· Strong budgeting and cost management skills in the context of published products.

· Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems.

· Excellent professional written and oral communication skills.

· Proven ability to present and speak publicly.

· Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage collaboration across internal departments– product, financial, marketing and operations – and supervise external resources.
