Assistant Professor of English | Kennesaw State University

KSU is accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English to begin August 2022.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate publishing and professional writing courses (and possibly courses focusing on the candidate’s secondary area of expertise) on a 3/3 load in various modalities.
  • Producing quality and significant discipline-specific research/scholarly/creative activities;
  • Contributing to the service efforts of the department, university, profession, and community;
  • Supporting the professional interests and experiences of students through internships, community/work-based initiatives, and engagement.

PhD, MFA, or its foreign equivalent, in English, writing, or closely related field is required. Candidates who are ABD may apply; however, degree must be earned by the hire date.

Ideal candidates will have a background in publishing and professional writing in either academic or industry settings with a promising record of research or creative activities in these areas.

Qualifications to teach or develop courses in at least one of these secondary support areas is also preferred: feature writing, editing, career development, book design, digital/interactive storytelling, and/or book history/history of the publishing industry.
