Director of Product Design | Pearson

Pearson is seeking a Product Design Manager to join our growing global product design team. We are charged with designing next generation digital learning experiences for learners and educators. In this role, you will use your strong problem-solving, design thinking and interaction design skills to collaboratively bring to life truly delightful learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor and lead a cross-functional design team to raise the level of skill and knowledge on the overall team.
    • Partner and collaborate across organizational boundaries to achieve end-to-end quality in our user experience.
    • A significant contributor to creating and holding the vision for the end to end customer experience.
    • Participate in setting strategic objectives to achieve business results.
    • Work with and reach across BU and functional boundaries to deliver on the Pearson vision for delighting its customers.
  • Establish a unique vision for the future and generates broad support. Envisions the future and generates strategies to “change the game” and generates broad support.
  • Create elegant solutions to complex, end to end user flows across multiple business systems, with a truly global vision.
  • Apply fundamental user experience, design and research principles to deliver intuitive and effective customer journeys; translate your findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Scope, design, and lead execution of design research grounded in evidence-based processes to validate the efficacy of our solutions.
  • Improve the customers’ experiences by understanding what’s important, measuring how we’re doing, and driving priorities to improve.
  • End-to-end accountability for project deliverables by engaging decision makers at appropriate levels.
  • Drive the adoption of product and process improvements.
  • Establish and advocate design principles and iterative design processes.



  • 5 years experience in SaaS UX design and implementation
  • Demonstrated excellence in simplifying complex user flows, interaction patterns and product experiences that align with multiple user needs; a portfolio that demonstrates these abilities.
  • Fluent in the end-to-end UX and UI design process; ability to work within established frameworks – but also push the boundaries to impact change!
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong storyteller; professionally creates and structures their presentations.
  • Experience managing a team and mentoring people.
  • Experience working with agile environment across multiple teams.
  • Skilled interviewer: knows how to dig below the surface to gain knowledge and uncover insights on various topics.
