Director, Print Production & Sourcing | Callisto Media

As the Director, Print Production and Sourcing you will be responsible for developing Callisto Media’s short-, medium- and long-term print production sourcing strategy. In partnership with the SVP, Product Planning and Analytics and Operations, the Director, Print Production and Sourcing will be responsible for developing the strategy, leading the RFQ processes, negotiating with potential print partners and ultimately executing the print production and sourcing strategy for Callisto Media.

The Director, Print Production and Sourcing will need to have deep project management experience that includes overseeing the production of wide range of books – from lower price point soft cover children’s books to higher priced hard cover books, box sets and new products. This role will involve working closely with design and art, as well as with inventory, logistics and warehousing, and outside vendors, both domestic and overseas, to produce quality products in a deadline driven environment. The Director will also be a key part of the product strategy and R&D Team charged with developing new, market right products. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for quality assurance and quickly and effectively dealing with any print production related issues that arise.

The Director, Print Production and Sourcing will be responsible for building out the team, tools and processes to support our current business and aggressive growth plans. Deep experience designing and building out high performance teams in a dynamic, high growth environment is critical. Additionally, in conjunction with the SVP, Operations, the Director will be responsible for developing the Print Production and Sourcing KPIs and plan to achieve our margin, quality, product expansion and other key goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and execution of Callisto Media’s print production sourcing strategy.
  • Lead the end-to-end RFQ process to support Callisto Media’s print production sourcing strategy.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and timeline impacts to support specified projects and recommend, select and negotiate optimal printer for the specific project based on best price, quality and due date.
  • Responsible for end-to-end production and coordination of tasks from project initiation, scheduling, print production, evaluating specs, inventory management, shipping and invoice processing.
  • Coordinate printing and production requirements with Callisto Media Art and Design Teams as well as with customers and outside vendors.
  • Work closely with sales team to coordinate production stages and final delivery.
  • Review finished samples and ensure printers are meeting/exceeding production specifications.
  • Responsible for all production related quality assurance tasks.



  • 10+ years of experience managing publishing digital and offset projects
  • Deep project management experience in the printing/publishing industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of the graphics arts and printing industry preferred
  • Project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects with concurrent deadlines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily: InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and other MS Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills & experience
