Editor, Food and Lifestyle | Chronicle Books

Chronicle Books seeks an experienced acquisitions Editor located in either San Francisco or New York City. The person in this role will enhance Chronicle Books’ publishing by originating, developing, and managing distinctive, profitable projects that spark the passions of consumers. We seek an editor brimming with creative ideas, strong publishing relationships, and a clear vision for what makes our publishing irresistible.

This person in this role will originate, acquire, develop, and edit distinctive, profitable projects in key areas of the list, including high-profile books and spirited formats in such categories as food & drink, health & wellness, personal growth, beauty, d├ęcor, and fashion. The Editor will be expected to stay on top of trends, develop categories to promote commercial success, and cultivate relationships with authors, artists, and publishers. In addition to promoting innovative and profitable publishing within the Food and Lifestyle group, the person in this role will mentor junior editorial staff and work collaboratively with other in-house departments.

This position requires 4 to 6 years acquisitions and project editor experience at a trade-publishing house, and a demonstrated ability to acquire, develop, position, and edit a full list of strong-performing titles. A successful applicant should also have strong contacts in publishing and the Food & Lifestyle world, and be a strongly self-motivated and highly collaborative original thinker.
