Editorial Assistant | HarperCollins

We have an exciting opportunity for and Editorial Assistant to join the HarperOne San Francisco team!  The Editorial Assistant will provide administrative and editorial support on a variety of titles including memoir, narrative nonfiction, parenting, education, personal development, spirituality, business, and healthy living.


  • Maintains communication with authors and agents.
  • Reads, edits, and evaluates manuscripts.
  • Writes jacket copy, flap copy, sales notes, fact sheets and assists others in department as needed.
  • Assists in acquisition process by performing research on sales numbers and competitive titles.
  • Assists with editing manuscripts.
  • Transmits manuscripts and manages the publication process by liaising with other departments.
  • Performs administrative and editorial duties and assist in coordinating the publication process from manuscript to book.
  • Writes correspondence, memos, and completes internal forms; masters intranet programs.


  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prior employment or internship experience in publishing
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
