Fall Intern, Communications | Macmillan

Macmillan Learning is seeking a Communications Intern to work remotely. This Communications Intern has a very hands-on role, supporting the Communications team with social media, written internal and external communications, and campaign planning.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Social Media

  • Contribute to social media content calendars, including supporting plans for affinity months, special holidays, product launches, company webinars, and other noteworthy days.
  • Draft social media posts for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Audit the social media presence and strategies of ML’s competitors, surfacing takeaways, and lessons that you can use to inform your social strategy down the road.
  • Report on social media posts and channel performance.
  • Create a database of Macmillan Learning authors’ social media handles.
  • Help grow our community and engagement, keeping a pulse on trending topics and innovations within the social landscape
  • Create infographics.

 

Communications

  • Draft blog posts, press releases, and other communications content.
  • Create draft headlines and media pitches.
  • Edit communications materials.
  • Collaborate with staff on new ideas and directions for communications.
  • Monitor for and share news about textbooks, education, company authors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program (Junior year and up), Masters program, PhD; or recently graduated (3 months or fewer) in Communications, Public Relations, or related degree
  • Understanding of social media tools and platforms including Facebook, Instagram etc.
  • Understanding of the basic principles of public relations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter, good time management
  • Creative ideas and energy
