Managing Editorial Assistant | Chronicle Books

Chronicle Books has an opening for a Managing Editorial Assistant to assist the Managing Editorial group in ensuring that all Chronicle Books titles are created with a high level of quality and in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

The Managing Editorial Assistant will proofread and do light copyediting, create simple manuscripts, and track schedule updates. They will assist communicating with freelancers, help maintain style guides and process documents. They will also assist in maintaining the accuracy of metadata, provide general clerical support, and attend department meetings.

The position requires proofreading experience, strong grammar skills, and a working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style. The Assistant must have strong organizational skills, experience in working with deadlines, and the ability to handle several tasks at once. They must be self-motivated and reliable and have good communication skills. Word and Excel for Windows knowledge and some experience in publishing are assets.
