We have an opportunity for a conceptual designer who can turn solid strategy into brilliant design. The Marketing Designer’s role will be to design digital ads for books that can change and improve lives – in a company that’s turning publishing on its head. You’ll be embedded in the copywriting department and will work on a variety of other ad hoc projects – like catalogues, banner ads and soon video.


Each morning, you come to an exciting, fast-paced world. You’ll create compelling, engaging digital ads that showcase our books on e-commerce and social media channels. You’ll be working with a copywriter on each ad and will be responsible for visual executions that surprise and delight the reader – with conversion as the end goal.


The Work – You’ve done surprising, engaging and elegant design in digital and print, and possibly video. You’ve done design for lots of different products aimed at lots of different audiences.

The Person – You thrive working in a creative team. Multi-tasking is your friend. You’re flexible, can change gears easily and you’re comfortable in a fluid environment. You’re a scrappy problem solver and view tight deadlines as a challenge. You do your best work in a collaborative environment.


  • You have 5+ years of art direction/design experience
  • You have expert proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Your portfolio demonstrates that you: Understand how to tell a story visually with photos, illustrations, colors, typography. Have done excellent work for a variety of products aimed at lots of different audiences – men, women, teens, kids, etc. Have experience designing both online and print advertising assets
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent education and experience.
  • You’re not just an excellent designer — you’re a savvy, scrappy problem solver with great attention to detail
  • You can manage multiple projects at once
  • You’re a team player and communicate well with internal partners including senior leaders
  • BONUS: You’ve worked in a design company, advertising agency or like company
