Materials Developer

Center for the Collaborative Classroom (CCC) located in Alameda, is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to providing continuous professional learning for teachers and curricula that support the academic, ethical, and social development of children.

The Materials Developer participates in the writing of curriculum materials for CCC’s program offerings, using existing curriculum as models. With guidance, the Materials Developer learns the CCC writing style; develops an understanding of the CCC pedagogy and approach; revises work based on feedback; and participates in all steps of the editorial process from manuscript generation through the final production stages.


  • Learn CCC’s mission, pedagogy and program
  • Know child development and constructivist approaches to learning and teaching, and about the integration of social, ethical, and emotional development in materials
  • Organize and manage individual work (writing, revising, preparing manuscript for publication)
  • Learn the publishing process and work efficiently to meet deadlines including understanding how technology is integrated with CCC materials
  • Follow through on projects from concept to completion


  • Bachelors Degree; Teaching Credential is a plus
  • Proven ability to write clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences
  • At least three years elementary or middle school teaching experience (in school, after school, or equivalent), preferably in urban settings
  • Understanding of different ways in which technology is used in schools
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of curriculum and teaching practices
  • Familiarity with Google doc/sheets and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Curriculum writing experience is a plus
