The American Academy of Ophthalmology is looking for a Publications Editor is responsible for editing and overseeing the production of Focal Points: Clinical Practice Perspectives, a monthly Academy publication. Working closely with the Publications Project Manager, the Publications Editor is also responsible for the editorial production process for various Academy titles, from copyediting to published books. The books are aimed at practicing ophthalmologists, residents, allied health professionals, and nonophthalmic physicians and are among the Academy’s most visible products, generating more than $1 million in sales revenues per year. In addition, the Publications Editor helps edit major-revision volumes of the Basic and Clinical Science Course (BCSC), a 13-volume series for ophthalmology residents and practitioners, typically editing one book annually. This position may work on special projects as needed.
