Publications Manager

Public Policy Institute of California seeks a creative, energetic publications manager to play a key role in publishing PPIC’s product line. As an essential member of the communications group, the publications manager will oversee the production and publication of PPIC print and online products, creating a variety of high-quality, accessible, and engaging publications and outreach vehicles. They will provide production support using a variety of design and desktop publishing applications.


  • Serve as primary production contact for PPIC products and publications, facilitating communication with key partners across the institute.
  • In collaboration with research administration, manage scheduling database, clarify timelines, and direct project traffic.
  • Uphold production standards across all PPIC products, ensuring quality, managing project goals, and maintaining deadlines.
  • Coordinate internal and external teams in the design and production of a variety of products, including marketing materials, institutional publications, and online content.


  • Bachelor’s degree, plus a minimum of five years’ experience directly managing production of print and online publications.
  • Exceptional project management skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks under strict deadlines. A problem-solver, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong copyediting and proofreading abilities; demonstrated ability to create and proof charts and graphics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; a gift for working diplomatically across functions and departments.
