Publicity Assistant | Chronicle Books

Chronicle Books is looking for a Publicity Assistant to support the publicity activities of our publishing program. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to learn about public relations, communications, media, and the publishing industry.

The Publicity Assistant will assist with day-to-day and administrative tasks, including but not limited to: mailings, media communication, research, and reporting. They will attend regular team meetings and provide general support to both the adult and children’s book publicists as needed. Managing new hire announcements, responding to media calls, assisting with press materials, and maintaining media databases are part of the job as well. Other key parts of this position include creating lists for influencer campaigns, preparing for team travel events, Salesforce data entry/reporting, and creating digital media kits.

Candidates should be detail-oriented, proactive, and resourceful with 1 to 2 years of professional office experience, excellent copywriting/communication skills, and familiarity with Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc..). Experience with Adobe Pro, Photoshop, Muck Rack, and Salesforce is a plus, as is Previous book experience (working in a bookstore, internships, etc..). You should also have a can-do attitude and an interest in books, media, design, and/or sales.
