Are you an up-and-coming designer interested in gift books and publishing? Apply for the Collective Book Studio Summer/Fall 2023 Marketing Design Internship and become part of a small team of book-loving professionals who believe in breaking down the barriers of publishing.

The Collective Book Studio is hiring one early-career designer for the inauguration of its Summer/Fall internship program. The internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the marketing and design department of a publishing house. The intern is mentored by the Collective Book Studio’s design director and will learn about the ins and outs of the book market, advertising, and sales needs for an emerging, women-owned press.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Design

  • Design title-specific sales materials including sell sheets and speaker sheets
  • Assist Design Director in the creation of print and digital advertisements for magazines, newsletters, and other online outlets
  • Assist Design Director in the creation and design of bi-monthly newsletters
  • Assist Design Director with the design of select social media materials
  • Assist Design Director in photographing product shots (as needed)
  • Create digital renderings of all books and products for online use

Design Operations

  • Assist Design Director in transferring design and marketing materials to Shopify storefront
  • Assist Design Director in maintaining database of freelance talent
  • Uphold file management structures for all design and marketing materials
  • Participate in conversations with design, sales, and marketing team members

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva
  • Understanding of typography
  • Communication skills, written and verbal, in English
  • Prioritization, multitasking, and organization skills
  • Interpersonal, collaborative skills

 

QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants for the Marketing Design Internship must have a strong interest in publishing and marketing design along with a background in graphic design. A degree in fields related to graphic design or marketing is preferred but not required.
