UC Press—one of the most forward-thinking scholarly publishers—is dedicated to advancing progressive ideas, expanding public discourse, and elevating diverse voices. We are seeking a strategic, creative, and mission-driven Marketing Manager to join our Books Marketing team.

 

In this role, you will develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns for a portfolio of lead titles, partnering closely with authors and internal teams to bring high-impact books to market. You will craft messaging, guide packaging decisions, oversee advertising and email campaigns, and collaborate on social media and content marketing strategies that drive visibility, engagement, and sales.

 

A key part of this position is author partnership: identifying engagement opportunities, advising on best practices, supporting platform growth, and ensuring each author’s perspective informs promotional plans. You will also contribute to seasonal planning, maintain title data, provide performance reporting, and help strengthen searchability and discoverability across channels.

 

Required:

– Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, sales, or publishing

– Strong project management and communication skills

– Experience building collaborative relationships; author-facing experience a plus

– Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; comfort learning new tools

– Enthusiasm for mission-driven publishing

 

This hybrid role requires residency in California and in-office work two days per week (Tues/Wed).

 

Salary range: $103,000–$108,000, commensurate with experience.
