Webinar: Born Accessible: How to Build InDesign Files with Accessibility in Mind

Join us for a virtual lesson on Born Accessible books, focusing on implementing accessibility features in InDesign before export to ebook. We’ll cover the Born Accessible philosophy, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines principles, and some definitions, before diving into a demonstration of improving your InDesign file’s accessibility, including Metadata, Navigation, Hierarchy and Semantics, and Image Descriptions. Attendees will walk away with hands-on knowledge.

Our presenter, Kris Tomes of Tomes Publishing Services, has been freelancing and consulting for publishers throughout North America and New Zealand since 2012, most recently focusing on accessibility and meeting the European Accessibility Act requirements. She also spent nearly 10 years at children’s publisher Lerner Publishing Group, where she led the company’s accessibility team and managed ebooks, audiobooks, databases, apps, and e-reading platform.
