Website Mises Institute

The Mises Institute is looking for freelance copyeditors!

We are a small nonprofit institute dedicated to promoting Austrian economics as the most effective way to establish free and open markets as the foundation for a society based on freedom of choice for everyone.

Freelancers are needed to work on our daily mises.org articles (500–1,500 words and geared toward laymen), our peer-reviewed journal articles (5,000–12,000 words and read by economists and graduate students), and book manuscripts of varying lengths.

We’re seeking editors with the following:

·         Two or more years of nonfiction editing experience—not writing experience

·         Experience with Chicago style

·         Dexterity with Word and Track Changes

·         Twenty-four-hour turnaround time for the daily articles (more time is allotted for the academic articles and books)

Knowledge of economics (especially Austrian economics) and related subjects, such as history, finance, law, cryptocurrency, and gold, is a benefit but not required.

The Institute will offer steady work to those who can return clean, publication-ready manuscripts (no typos, no double spaces, original sense intact, light fact-checking conducted as needed, Chicago 17 style applied perfectly, et cetera). We pay per word/page, so you have full control of your time.

Please send a résumé, a copyediting sample (1–2 pages), and your rate per word/page to daniella@mises.org. A cover letter is appreciated but not required. Qualifying candidates will be asked to take a copyediting test.
