Sales Manager – UC Press (Hybrid | Oakland, CA)

 

University of California Press—one of the most forward-thinking scholarly publishers in the world—is seeking a Sales Manager to help grow revenue and expand the reach of impactful scholarship across academic and trade markets.

 

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, this role blends key account management, sales analytics, and strategic collaboration. You’ll own relationships with major accounts such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, independent retailers, and distribution partners, while translating data into actionable sales strategies that support authors, customers, and future acquisitions.

 

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of sales or account management experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and familiarity with book publishing or bookselling. You’ll work cross-functionally with Marketing, Publicity, Acquisitions, and Operations to drive performance, forecast results, and identify growth opportunities.

 

This is a hybrid role based in Oakland (on site two days per week), with approximately 15% travel.

 

Salary range: $103,000–$108,000 annually, plus UC’s robust benefits package.
